Business Immigration

Amongst generally known immigration pathways for skilled foreign professionals, the Canadian federal and provincial governments offer a number of available options designed for business persons or managers. Most importantly, these immigration pathways usually establish fast-track processing times.

Canada is looking forward to individuals that have significant business acumen, business and managerial experience, available venture capital and entrepreneurial skills that will influence the Canadian economy. These immigration programs are attracting investors, entrepreneurs, and self-employed individuals from outside Canada.

We are inviting you to learn more about these programs and would be pleased to provide our professional assistance in your Business Class immigration.

Canadian Immigration Pathways for Entrepreneurs

Start-up Visa Program

The Start-Up Visa Program grants permanent residence to immigrant entrepreneurs, who are planning to grow their companies in Canada. The most favourable benefit of the program is the ability to arrange an immigration pathway for up to five foreign nationals and their family as part of the same business venture.

Canada’s Start-up Visa Program targets immigrant entrepreneurs that have the skills and potential to build a business in Canada, which in return would:

  1. Be innovative
  2. Will create jobs for Canadians
  3. Will compete on a global scale
  4. Will drive economic growth

In order to be eligible for the Start-up Visa Program, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements

  1. Meet minimum language requirements in English or French (Canadian Language Benchmark 5 in all abilities);
  2. Bring enough money to settle in Canada;
  3. Have a qualifying business that meets the ownership requirements;
  4. Get a letter of support from a designated organization in the form of the Commitment Certificate, that should be submitted the organization directly to IRCC;
  5. Plan to settle in a province other than the Province of Quebec;
  6. Pass Canadian security and medical clearances.

Once the application is submitted, it is processed and assessed to ensure all requirements are met. If the application is approved, applicants receive a permanent resident visa. This includes the Confirmation of Permanent Residence and the entry visa.

Self-Employed Person Federal Immigration Program

The Self-Employed Persons Program allows eligible candidates to immigrate to Canada permanently. This program creates an amazing PR pathway while keeping the eligibility requirements quite realistic.

Immigration candidates should provide evidence of experience, intention and ability to make a “significant contribution” to cultural or sports development in Canada. This self-employed experience should confirm the ability of these candidates to successfully establish themselves in Canada.

Important to note, that by reviewing the eligibility requirements, most candidates underestimate the importance to provide an extensive list of evidence and complexity of this program PR application. We have been approached by a number of failed applicants with refused PR applications, submitted under this program. Our analysis of these refusals confirms the fact that this application should be treated very seriously and should be professionally prepared.

Eligibility requirements:

  1. Have relevant experience in cultural activities or athletics and;
  2. Be willing and able to make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada.
  3. Have 35 points out of 100 to proceed with the PR application (selection criteria)

Relevant experience for cultural activities:

  • 2 one-year periods being self-employed in cultural activities, or
  • 2 one-year periods participating at a world-class level in cultural activities, or
  • a combination of a one-year period described in (a), and a one-year period described in (b)

Relevant experience fro athletics:

  • 2 one-year periods being self-employed in athletics, or
  • 2 one-year periods participating at a world class level in athletics, or
